iMovie not output sound

Posted this on pole up port forums haven't got a reply since a week.

I am creating a photo slide show in iMovie '11 (which I think is the latest)I have background music but it does not come out when previewing it. I ripped the music from a CD imported into iTunes sound works fine in everything else just not output from iMovie. Some of the video in the timeline has sound can hear them but music on still doesn't output.

oh NO!! I am about to create a PhotoSlideshow and haven't used the latest iMovie since the last slideshow back in Summer.

Does it not preview AND not export with Sound?
Can you see the music under the photos/videos in the timeline?
if you click on the music under those can you set the volume higher?

Not too much help as I have yet to get into it, but this weekend, I want to make it...we have the party next Saturday so it is a bit late for me to start this.

I'll try and see how it goes for me in the next few days and hope to write back if I see something.

It does show me the music under the photos i have set it to 400% and still doesn't play. I haven't export it yet, as the sound doesn't play when previewing it.

sorry, thanks for quoting me...so I would write back here.

I am using iMovie 2013 (that's the latest version but closely resembles iMovie '11 in features respect).

I am able to get sound. so....make me wonder if you have sound "Ducking" (I think that is the appropriate word) where the sound of music will be lessened when there is audio in your movie.

Can you preview the music in the iTunes/Audio panel where you would pull the songs to import into the movie? There should be a PLAY button to the left to preview the music.

Do you have Mavericks? you should be able to download the latest (2013 - Blue Star icon) iMovie for Free.

Ahhhh it seems to get sound now. Maybe it was still importing it when I tried it
