This is probably one of those really dumb questions but...

I have the latest iMovie (version 10.1.1 it says) on El Capitan. I want to use a title (text in my movie). I pick my template/theme, say Centered, and I place it in my project. It comes with a short fade in and a fade out. I want to lengthen the fade in and have no fade out whatsoever. How do I do that?

I had Mountain Lion before and in the version of iMovie I had then I *think* this was just a case of right-click on the titles clip in the timeline, select Properties (or similar) and change the fade times. So it seems like, now, I'm just missing something very simple.

Thanks

You can alter the time that the Title is displayed for, but you can't adjust the fade time.

Yes, you could do that. Just something else that Apple removed with this "upgrade".

You could always do what I do, make your Title in Keynote and Export to Quicktime and import that into your movie.

Thanks for that. Frustrating to have spent so long looking for the function, and kinda frustrating to find out Apple removed it (for what I can only be cynical and guess would be marketing reasons - they want you to buy something else of theirs). Still, at least I know now. I will try your workaround.
