I have recorded a movie using the DV format on my sony cam and exported it to imovie. there seems to be a problem coz I get these annoying lines on the video. The recording is clear on camera but gets lines on imovie...what to do?

Fancy thread title.

Anyway, as the footage is interlaced and looks like this on your computer monitor, which is progressive:
Interlaced_video_frame_%28car_wheel%29.jpg
the lines are normal and to be expected. Once you display the video on a proper TV (CRT or flat screen), the lines will disappear.

This animation demonstrates the interline twitter effect. On the left are two progressive scan images. Center are two interlaced images. Right are two images with line doublers.
