iMovie9 unstable

Hi all,

I have a Mac Book Pro and an iMac.
Both purchased new Nov 2009.

iMovie 9 work fine on the MacBookPro and does not work properly on the Mac Book.

Example: does not recognise my camera (Sony TG1) on the iMac
Both have same software

What could be causing this?
Can I reinstall the program iMovie9
What happens to content?
