import iTunes .XML file into Excel, or export as .csv

I have a large CD collection that I'd like to get into a spreadsheet.

I've been racking my brain trying to find something simple to import my CD playlist (which I exported as XML from iTunes) into Excel.

I'm a programmer, so I can hack out a script myself if needed, but am trying to do this the easiest way.

Every solution I've googled so far has run into a dead-end (i.e. the simplest solution is to import into Excel directly, which doesn't work on Mac version. So tried Windows version which does have an XML import function, but it failed).

Anyone have a quick, easy way to do this?

darn.. sorry about that. Well, I hope you find that tool useful for something else in the future. It's very popular around my office.
I tried this with my library but the results were not great. Maybe you could massage it into workable data.
Then I remembered Doug's Scripts... I would take a stab at one of those.

SOLVED

oh emm gee!

Turns out there's a stupidly simple way to do this which I should have figured out myself, but found in this video:

All you have to do in iTunes is:

• select your playlist
• from 'File' menu choose 'Library->Export Playlist...'
• under 'Format' choose 'Plain Text'

This saves as tab delimited txt file which can then be directly imported into Xcel.

Made an account to say - It also works if you select all the files in your Library (CMD+A) and go to File -> Export Playlist.
