Ok - So I have a Genius Bar appointment later today to hopefully swap out my iMac for a new one. The glass panel being off center with the iSight camera was making me insane and the dust behind the screen was as well. I've had the iMac less than a month but more than the 14 day window, so I'm hoping a kind Genius will help me out.

That said, if you've received a replacement iMac from an Apple Store, do they just grab a brand new boxed iMac from the back and issue the return in exchange for all of your original iMac contents? I hope so. Please don't tell me they open a new box and swap just the computer or something and you go home with the same keyboard and mouse (that would be bad for my OCD:()

Also, has anyone been successful in receiving a replacement after the 14 day return window, but within a reasonable time (like me within one month)?

Did you buy your iMac from Apple's online store or retail store? That makes a difference. If you bought it online they won't swap it in the store. If you bought it in the store then it should be no problem of you getting a whole exchange as long as you bring your box and packaging. Now, it's totally a management decision if they want to swap you for a new one or repair it since your past the 14 days.
Also, one other question, why is it such a big deal if they just swap the computer and you keep the keyboard and mouse? You've only had it for under a month? You say you're OCD about this? That's a bit to the extreme don't ya think?

I bought it in store and will be going back to the same store tonight. Everything is packaged back to the way it was when I got it. I know I'm pushing it being 28 days from purchase instead of the 14, but I still think it's within reason.

The big deal is that I just want to hit the reset button on the purchase. That means a new box, with a new iMac and all of it's originally packaged accessories. The accessories that came with the iMac I'm attempting to exchange tonight have become "tainted" along with the slightly faulty iMac itself. It's an OCD thing I guess. I want to start anew and start fresh.:p

Yeah, you should be good. I think Apple really sticks to the 14 day policy when you want to do returns or refunds and the like. In your case where it's defective they should just swap you without a problem. Just explain to them that it's been like that since you bought it and your work schedule hasn't made it easy for you to get to the store for an exchange. You should be fine. Keep us updated. :)

I will. Thanks for your helpful and encouraging comments.:)

I'm very happy to report that the Apple Store gave me a full replacement of my iMac tonight. I'm going away this weekend and won't set up the new one until I get home, but am sure it will be fine.

I'm taking a break from these forums for awhile and just enjoying my new 27" iMac. You all had me looking for every possible flaw imaginable to the point where I was obsessed with iMac perfection. Well, whatever this replacement holds for me is what I'll will be using for the next 3 years. No more searching for dust particles, tints, or humming noises.

Good luck to all of you who want to continue making yourselves crazy. The iMac is awesome...just enjoy it!
