Imported Contacts won't sync

Hey,

I recently stumbled across a weird issue:
Sometimes, when someone sends me a contact via whatsapp, and I import it to my adress book, these contacts won't sync via icloud, no matter what I do. I rebooted the device, switched off/on icloud, but nothing helped.

Is this an iOS bug?

In Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars what do you have selected under CONTACTS for "Default Account"?

Under mail, I've selected a custom mail account, not icloud, and under contacts I don't have an option to set a default account..

When in the Contacts app can you click on "Groups" (upper left) and if so what do you see?
