Hello,

I have hit a dead-end... my iPhone is jailbroken and is also on a Fido 3G network with wireless internet not wi-fi so I seem to have no I.P. address. I downloaded cydia and from there downloaded bossprefs or something... I am trying to get Cyberduck to pick up my iPhone so I can access the files and put in my tones and such but... I just can't seem to find the information it needs.

Thanks to whoever decides to help,
Stephen

Oh, and I even tried hooking up Wi-Fi to my house's router IP and it still shows this:

There was a problem while connecting to ???

I just can't get my iPhone to open in Cyberduck!!!

Your iPhone still has an IP address even if you're on cellular data, but I'm not sure that SSH will work over your cellular data connection. I just tried it and it timed out. I'm assuming it's a port problem.

You downloaded BossPrefs from Cydia, but did you download and install OpenSSH?

Just downloaded OpenSSH now from Cydia, though no App appeared on the app list pages (I suppose this is supposed to be how it is). How do I operate it to see my iPhone's I.P.

Cyberduck calls it a server so am I doing something wrong - supposedly it is supposed to be my I.P. My mac is using wi-fi from my downstairs PC when I tried like I saw done on a YouTube video - it didn't work.

I have the Fido 3G network on an iPhone 3GS with wireless internet so I don't hook up to my house's wi-fi usually - I just need to know where my address is for Cyberduck, i've seen a few addresses thru searching but all do not connect with my iPhone and error messages pop up on cyberduck!

Please help if you can...
Thank you!
Steve

Why don't you use Google for a tutorial on how to use Cyberduck.

All that is needed is OpenSSH and Cyberduck, both of which you have. A WiFi network also needed.

Now you just need to do some research to figure out how to use Cyberduck.

OP: your phone needs to be connected to the same WiFi router as your computer. You then need to find out your phone's IP address using this tutorial. Then you need to login to your iPhone via CyberDuck using your IP address as the server name, 'root' as your username, and 'alpine' as the password (assuming you haven't changed your SSH password. Be careful what you mess with; you can really mess up your phone.

You should also change your SSH password for security.

Yes OpenSSH is downloaded though it doesn't appear on my springboard and Cyberduck is on my Mac. My Mac uses Airport wi-fi from my pc downstairs and my wi-fi is default and has no password so I tried just typing in my wi-fi IP from downstairs with no username and no password and all that comes up is library and media folders but nowhere that I can add files to my iPhone...

This is strange... :S

It won't appear. It's not a GUI, it's a service that runs on your iPhone.

You also need to login with root as the username, and alpine as the password. Personally I use Fugu as my SSH client, I would use this tutorial to help:

Maybe I should try Fugu instead of Cyberduck? The most I can get to appear with my Wi-FI IP Address is 2 folders 1 named library and 1 named media... neither do anything...

I tried fugu and it apparently worked! Now, where can I go to import custom SMS text sounds?

So, I tried to put my custom sms tone called "sms-received1.caf" into a folder called "Custom SMS Tones" and put it in the "Themes.ShzSCm" folder and went into Winterboard and checked it and it looked like it was loading or applying it and then when my friend texted me it was the standard tone.

What's wrong?

I think you didn't follow the instructions for system sounds in the link I provided above...

You need to use Goggle to do some research. People here are not going to spoonfeed you but we will direct you to sources to research what you want to do.

Alright, so through some research - I was surprised to find out that it was easy as replacing my "sms-received4.caf" with the one already in the iPhone. I've seem to have gotten the audio editing down pat... for now.

From the tutorials I read you can change the opening screen's clock time font... I have the Walt-O-Graph font (Walt Disney letters & numbers) that I would like to use for the clock display... how would I go about doing that specific font?

(I figured out the question I had in this post - see above post for my remaining question)

Bytethese posted a link that answers your question before you even asked it.

Here's the specific section you need. Spend some time looking through all of the sections on that site, it's pretty helpful.

Yes - it says how, but I would like to use my own fonts rather than the only ones you have to download. Is this possible?

All you have to do is look at method 2 from the link I provided. That's all you have to do. That's it. Just look. Then read. That's it.
