IMPORTING FAVORITES FROM IE5 to MOZILLA FIREFOX SAFARI

In mozilla firefox under the bookmarks menu it says you can import IE favorites, but i don't know where you go, or how to do that. If anyone can tell me i'd appreciate it.

also can i do it for safari too?

For me it was automatic. In Firefox it puts your IE favorites in the 'Imported IE Favorites' submenu at the bottom of the Bookmarks menu. Safari does it automatically too, just choose Show All Bookmarks from the Bookmarks menu and there should be a collection called 'Imported IE Favorites' on the left. Is this not working for you?

Yeah, not sure what the issue is here either. I ended up downloading a nightly of Firefox which seemed to have better import capabilites. I ended up using Safari Bookmark Exporter, exporting my bookmarks into Opera, and then pulled them into Firefox from there. Quite a pain, but it did work. Hopefully the next official release of Firefox will fix this issue. Sorry I didn't even touch on the issue of IE, I couldn't get IE as an import option through Firefox, but this was the only way I could get bookmarks to import.

Well, Mozilla has a specific "Import Bookmarks" menu item; open the "Manage Bookmarks" window, and it'll show up under "Edit". I thought I remembered Firefox having something similar, but at the very least you should be able to have it open a Mozilla bookmark file (try just opening it, or you can go into the Preferences folders and replace the Firefox one with the one from your Mozilla profile--I assume they're in the same format).

As for Safari, it can import directly, but to get it to do that you have to do one of three things: Open it for the first time, in which case it takes IE's bookmarks automatically, enable the Debug menu, and tell it to reimport IE bookmarks, or there is a preference you can set to have it reimport on startup (you can delete ALL of Safari's preferences to trigger this, or look up exactly what to change in the plist file).
