Importing iPhoto Library into Photos

With my new computer... I thought it would be a good idea to finally migrate from iPhoto to Photos...

I had a iPhoto Lib of about 43 GB.
When clicking on it, I was offered the option to migrate all pics to Photos, so I did.
Its extension was subsequently changed into ".migratedphotolibrary". (same size - still 43GB)

Yet... I see them nowhere in Photos.
Is this normal?
Can someone help/advise?

It was in the previous link from iLondoner, too. But was iPhoto Version 8 or higher? If not, there is an iPhoto Library Upgrader tool to prepare your library first.
Maybe Photos is uploading to iCloud? But 43 GB should already have finished...

There's an interesting app called PowerPhotos that allows you to have multiple Libraries.

Photos allows multiple libraries. Just hold down command when starting it.
