iPod importing to an external drive?

Is it possible to arrange my preferences so that when I import a CD, it saves the files in my external hard drive rather than my laptop's hard drive?

It is possible my music is on an external drive for my pc.

I first made the folder on the external HD called it the same ie iutnes music.

go to 'Edit' and select prefrences.

Select the 'Advanced' tab and under the 'General' you have the 'iTunes music folder location' and a Change button click change and browse for the folder you created.

To move all media without manually doing this, after changing path to save media, select consolidate library from menu.

This moves everything to the new folder.
