When I drag a picture from Photos and put it on my desktop, it is saved as a jpeg. However, when I try to open it with any regular program or email it to someone, the image does not work. Same if I drag it into a browser window.

Any thoughts?

I don’t use Photos much at all. Never-the-less, are you dragging a thumbnail or the photo itself?

Well, I've only tried 30 random pictures from different sets and all of them had this problem. So I am assuming all pictures will probably suffer from it...

What version of the OS are you running? Did you recently upgrade the OS or Photos?

Does the image open via Quick Look? (Select the image on the Desktop and click the space bar.)

On the desktop, does the file icon show as the image or as a generic file icon?

When you do Get Info on the image on the desktop, what file type (Kind) does it indicate?

Are the photos on a drive that is not currently mounted? (As I do not use Photos all that much I'm not sure that his is a valid scenario.)

If you use the Share command (File >Share) to mail the image does it work?
