...how quickly these forums quieted down once the iPhone 4 frenzy started. It really makes me realize how many iPad owners are also iPhone owners (and soon-to-be iPhone 4 owners).

This just re-affirms for me the positioning of the products within the Applesphere. Clearly the two products are not mutually exclusive, but complimentary.

Well there's only so many times I can post about how great my iPad is.

All of the people that post on macrumors for the sake of posting on macrumors have moved to the new hot topic.

All of the people that posted on the iPad forums because they just got their ipads, many of whom don't have iPhones, are busy using their ipads and probably not religiously following the forum that was cool in April.

As for me, I still lurk here waiting for new info about iOS 4 for iPad.

Hmm...I don't know about the decision proces of other Apple buyers, but i'm definitely choosing between an Iphone or an Ipad.

Recently I had the chance to play with an Ipod touch (wifi connection) and although it was fun, i wasn't too fond to check the internet on such a small screen.

So my decision for now is a low budget phone and an ipad. If i need internet i'll take the ipad with me.

Same for me, iPad and a basic phone (that's cheap to run)

If I'm at home I have my computers and iPad

If I'm at work (apart from not really having any time) I have a PC

If I'm driving somewhere I'm driving!

If I've gone out for the day (day out) I want to enjoy my day out, not browse the bloody internet and check emails during the day. I want to get away from all that on a "Day out"

Hence, in reality, I have no use whatsoever for an iPhone. Sure it would be nice to just have one to play with, but charging it every night would drive me crazy. I'd rather have a phone that runs for a week+ on a charge.

I've been thinking the same. The new iPhone though sure looks so very nice....

You said it. I was wondering where everyone went. But once pre-order day hit the iPhone forums lit up like wild fire and iPad forums fizzled out.

But you're on to it, man... You need a Mac to use your iPad, and you need a Mac to sync your iPhone. And then you need an iPhone to complete your iPad, to text and make calls. But all in all Apple knows once you own one of their products you'll have to have another. And then you're hooked. I expect these forums to ramp back up come iOS4 for iPad in the fall, just in time for the holiday shopping season too! And just as if a NEW iPad was out. You'll see. Damn those inglorious :apple: bastards!

My company just dumped ATT for Verizon. You can get one of the pre or pixie with wifi hotspot. They routinely run specials where these phones are free. Pay one price for 5 gigs of shared 3G internet (or you can get unlimited for the phones only and use a 3rd party hardware wifi hotspot...that way they don't see you are tethering). I got a free blackberry when we switched. Purchased "Tether" for it ($49) and I can use it as a USB or Wireless modem for my laptop. That way I can get unlimited (not capped) for $29.99 ( http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/plansingleline.jsp?lid=//global//plans//individual ). Gonna get one of those wifi add-ons eventually.

EDITED...
Another reason for the reduced traffic on here is...it's SUMMER! Not as many people are staying indoors to blog..they are swimming, hiking, vacationing..etc.

Yep that's what I have done, I just won't pay the silly prices for an iPhone connection, so just a low cost phone and an iPad 32g x 3G, and am loving it.:)

I'm using an iPad and cheap blackberry, best of both worlds. When I had my old iPhone barely used any of the apps on it, was too awkward to use, a bit too small as well, although the screen on an iPhone feels huge after using a blackberry.

I'm sort of in the same boat.

I have a Touch Pro 2 (before I drank the Steve Jobs kool-aid) and my data plan blows the socks off of anything else available. Using it as a wifi router (of course it needs to be plugged in, because that thing eats the battery like the cookie monster eats... well, zucchini now I guess) works perfectly and the speed is at least 1 meg down, which is fine for what I use it for.

I pay $15 a month for unlimited. Why would I want to change to an iPhone now and be unable to tether in the same way or as easily?

For me, it's my poor-man's 16gb iPad until V2 comes out, and I'll upgrade, and pass my iPad down to my wonderful children/wife. QED.

And did I mention $15/month? Seriously.

Sorta related I guess but another reason for the drop in traffic is the trolls have buggered off to attack iPhone now that the iPad has proven to be pretty darn successful ( at least in the short term). Sure they'll be back when decent android tablets start to hit the market (or, god help us, windows 7 devices). Shame really, never understood the whole 'there can be only one' vibe going on this last few years.

I'm finding I use my 3GS a whole lot less now that I have my iPad. The iOS 4 upgrade runs great on it and whilst I'd love to have the better display of the iPhone 4, I see no reason to pay up my contract to get one. Obviously I have severe gadget lust but not enough to want to shell out £100 to break my contract then get into another contract when I can wait until December and get an iPhone 4 with no wait and a much better contract.

I don't have an iPhone, I don't want an iPhone. I had sold my iPod touch a while back and I had wanted another iOS device. It was either a 64GB iPod touch or a 16GB iPad, I figured that I didn't need another iPod (already have a nano, shuffle, etc) so I went with the iPad.

I keep on checking this forum for iOS 4 news, read user reviews of the latest cases, to reassure people that FedEx didn't lose their iPad, and more. I love my iPad so why stop posting here?
