Improvements for my idea?

Hey,

A while back I had started a thread asking for app ideas. I finally found one. I want to make something to help people use their computers more efficiently. I will have many power user tips and tricks to help users make the most of their computers. There will be a Mac and PC version, which will be separate apps. Because I've only gotten a basic idea so far I want to see if anyone has any improvements to make on the idea. For example, ways to utilize the new 3.0 API's. Thanks a lot in advance!
 
You haven't presented an idea. Helping people to use their computers more efficiently? In what way? You have presented an extremely broad concept, sort of like, "helping people to make their day to day lives easier".

Sorry. I meant an app that has a list of programs when opened and in that there are basic instructions on how to get started and after that some power tips that I can scrounge for online. It's like an all in one tool for many programs that can help those of us not so technologically advanced. Ask me again if you still don't get it.

I could see this as being useful to some people.

Not exactly your idea but on a flip side I think a lot of people would like a resource where they could enter criteria on what they want to perform and have the app suggest software to them.

Example they search "antivirus software" then you bring up results and within the results have your idea where you can give instructions, tips, etc.. and a overview.

In my opinion I think that's a better approach because if I had little knowledge on software but knew the applications name rather then looking for a app with tons of applications within it i'd just search for a tutorial specific to that application.

I'm good on PC and Mac. Mac is my main OS since 10.4 though. The other day somebody asked me how to print something to PDF in vista. Going off Mac this is built in by default. I knew solution but a resource like that skilled and unskilled could use.

Sort of a search engine but implement the result, review, tutorial, etc.. in one rather then having to look for them individually.

Maybe not direction you want to go. Just my feedback on idea.

Wow! That idea is much better than mine because 1. I'm not good at writing and therefore would probably not make good tutorials and 2. I'm really good at research. I have a question though. Do you think I should make a search engine which I have no clue how to implement or have a list of choices? For example (for the choices) I could have: viruses, slow internet, print problems, etc. or antivirus software, internet accelerators, [some print software?], etc. I think the viruses, slow internet, etc. one would be more useful because my marketed consumer probably wouldn't be able to figure out what an internet accelerator is. So, do you think I could make a search engine type app or choices? I wouldn't know how to make the search engine one because how would the app know what to do with the keywords? For example, it wouldn't know what "virus removing software" is but it would know "anti-virus software" and the whole point of this app is to help people who aren't technologically advanced. So far I'm leaning toward the viruses, slow internet, etc. idea. Do you know of any good tutorials to create a navigation based app? I found a few but the only good one I found links you to the same screen regardless of whatever choice you choose. Thanks a lot so far and in advance!

Id say anti-virus, slow internet, help with printing, slow computer, ...

Well, I've gotten a deeper understanding into my idea.

One tab can be "Symptoms", and list various symptoms that, when clicked, list software that can fix the issue.

Another tab can be "Recommendations" or similar, and list software types that when clicked, also give software recommendations.

The last tab can be "Support" that will have a button linked to Mail.app or a built in form that will e-mail me so I can fix the issue.

My question is, is there a way to have a built in e-mail form, because that would obviously be much more seamless than linking to Mail.app.
