I am currently running on Quickpwned 2.1 firmware. I wish to know what is the best process for me to get the best results (snappier phone  ) and keep my contacts, calendar, sms, etc.

I've read a couple of threads but have not found anything concrete. If I currently just update to 2.2 I know the hack is deleted, so would it be safe to just update to 2.2 then quickpwn it or restore it then hack and finally restoring from backup?

Thanks in advanced guys for your replies!!!!!:eek:

I believe if you just update with restoring you will lose 500mb each time.

Order should be (correct me if i'm wrong)

Backup iPhone
Restore
Update from 2.1-2.2
Quickpwn
Restore from backup?

This is what I do:
Backup (just a precaution, you should not be loosing anything this way)
Update the jailbroken 2.1 (after the update you will have an unjailbroken 2.2)
Then quickpwn it again with the new quickpwn

Thanks for the responses!!!:) I now have 2.2 Quickpwned:D I just wanted to make sure I was doing the best method possible:p Its all good now:cool:

The best method possible would have been to RESTORE to 2.2 after you downloaded the update, followed by Qwickpwn, followed by restoring from backup to get all your info and apps that you had on 2.1 back.

If you UPDATED to 2.2 then Qwickpwn'd you just lost 500mb, and you won't get it back until you do a RESTORE.

For all you 'restorers'...

I used to hate having to restore my phone (heavy Cydia user:D)

I used to lose all my themes and other apps and would have to start reinstalling everything from scratch (3+hrs.) until I discovered a package in Cydia called APTBackup... this is an AWESOME app as it creates a backup text file that backs up to itunes when you backup/sync. All you have to do is launch the app and hit the 'backup' button.

Once you have created a 'backup of your backup;' (backed up your Cydia backup to iTunes) you restore then you re-jailbreak and THEN you restore your iTunes backup.

Finally, you launch Cydia and all you install is APTBackup.

Because your itunes backup contains the APTBackup data, you are able to hit the 'restore' button within the APTBackup app and like magic (it will take several minutes though :D) all your Cydia apps, themes and other installs will restore themselves without you having to reinstall ANYTHING!

As for AppStore Apps you will have to re-sync to reinstall them to your phone as the iTunes back-up no longer backs them up. (I will take that 100 times over waiting 1hr + for backups to both be made as well as be restored after a 'restore.'

Just to throw it out there...I also love QuickGold (from Cydia) it launches when you push the home button once while on SpringBoard and it brings up a pretty cool launcher/search engine that has 'recents' in it, so if there's an app you use a lot (yes even appstore apps) just look it up from QuickGold one time and a shortcut gets added to QuickGold so that next time you launch into it the app shortcut is there (as opposed to flicking through several screens to try to find your app or if you use 'Categories' (another awesome app though...) having to wait for the folders to launch, etc.)
