I have a 27" mac and run El Capitan. If I go into a folder I haven't open in a while, sometimes the file and folders are in alphabetical order but sometimes it's all over the window. And the last time I know I put them in alphabetical order. Also I would like to always open my files in List view and my photos and videos in Icon view without having to change the everytime I go to them. Thanks teqmter

Open the folder in Finder then hit command-j and you will get this window where you can select the sort options you want to save up top.
