Okay first of all I have never seen this type of intrest/insanity from a major product releash, with the exception of preharps the Ps3. I bought an ipod a few years after if came out and I have never had an iphone so please excuse me. Okay here goes, I bought an ipad 64gb 3g from the appls store May 7th ship currently). I have called even apple store in colorado and maost of the best buy's and no one know when ther will be reciveing them, I have found no way to proorder from a brick amd mortor store and the people at best buy actully happen to know more then the people at the apple store. My question is this is there currently a brick and mortor store that you can order the Ipad 3g from and pick it up on the 30th?????

I don't think so, but I'm about to order online for a 5/7 delivery in case I cannot get one in a store.

I'm not about to wait all day at the store for one. If I can't get there at 4:30 and walk out with one, I'll just wait until 5/7.

Yes i know I could go dwon but i don't want to waste an entire day standing in the mall at the GD apple store. hope the option to preorder in store is avaliabe soon.

I'm sticking with my pre-order. I want to keep all my fingers and thumbs, as well as my iPad, intact.

Besides, I'll have my iPad 3G long before the Apple Store and Best Buy start selling them.

Thieves take iPad and finger

I'm hoping they'll give out "tickets" to whoever gets there first in the morning, otherwise they'd have a long line of people sitting there all day blocking the normal store traffic.

During my lunch break I went over to Best Buy to pester the employees about the April 30th thing... He said that they have to abide by Apple's rules, i.e. selling it at exactly 5:00 pm, but did say they will more than likely be giving people 'redemption tickets' so they can come back at 5:00 and pick up their unit (that way you aren't waiting in line all day.)

He suggested I come around the store's opening and they would be giving out tickets, then I would be able to just shoot by at 5 and pick it up. Either way, I already requested the day off and I'll be there about an hour before they open... just in case.

I'll be at home waiting for FedEx or UPS to deliver it to me on the 30th. I'm not doing the whole waiting outside a store again. I did that for my girlfriends 64GB wifi. I should of just preorder that. But I didn't, live and let learn.

For Best Buy do you guys know whether the restocking fee is only if it's opened?

I'm thinking of getting one on opening day but not opening it until I read people's impressions of it (e.g. battery life compared to Wifi, signal strength for 3g) and find out more about how the AT&T plan works (e.g. whether there's tax, international data options).

Best Buy considers the ipad a notebook computer and will hit you with a 15% restocking charge if it's not defective.

They will also have their geek squad staff verify the problem you're reporting.

Well, I'm asking whether there's any fee if I return it unopened, still in the shrink wrap.

While I can't say it with 100% certainty, but I'd be shocked if they tried to levy a restocking fee on an unopened item. They could and would sell it as new and it would probably be sold before you left the returns counter.

Not positive, but they probably will still charge you... if you're patient enough to buy it and not open it, why not just wait until the second shipment on May 7th, that will give you plenty of time to read reviews and impressions...

I got the impression that after opening day, it'd possibly be hit or miss for the few weeks afterward, e.g. you'd have to get lucky and show up right as they got a shipment.

Plus when I was waiting in line for the Wifi version on opening day, I was thinking it would have been a lot more fun if I had an iPad with me already to entertain me while I was in line; I'd be able to do that if I was in line for the 3G.

colin powell is speaking at my school on the 30th at 7. theres no way im missing it for something like the ipad, so im waiting until saturday. and im not nervous about it cause i guarantee there will be enough in stock. im getting the 64 gb, and i bet there isnt a large market for a $900 machine, about the same as a laptop, with a ton of restrictions. remember that all these are marked up, so the only people buying them will probably pretty serious tech people. plus, europe was delayed a month to ensure there will be enough at launch. the way apple handled the wifi launch, i am confidant saying that there will be more than enough to go around come the 30th.

You go to CSU with that vocabulary? Huh.

Anyway.

According to this:

CSU is an hour away from the Flat Irons Apple Store. If you left for Flat Irons in the afternoon, got there before 5, bought your iPad at 5, and left for CSU right afterwards-You'd get there by 6:30. Seems like there's plenty of time.
