It depends which Mac Pro you have. Slot 1 for the graphics card is always correct.

I made this question because I heard in this forum that there are problems at slot1 for gtx 570, if put gtx 570 in slot 2 can I put matroxcompresshd in slot 1?

Isn't the GTX 570 a dual slot card? If you put it in Slot 2 you lose Slot 3 and then can't fit all your cards in.

I have a GTX570 in slot 1 with no problems. It is indeed a double width card.

If the OP's Mac Pro is an early 2008 3,1 like mine then it is better to put the Velocity x2 in slot 2 as 1&2 are 16X PCIe V2.0 while 3&4 are 4X PCIe V1.1

Slot 1 (bottom) and 2 are the only true electrical 16-lane PCI-E slot, you will need your video card to go into either of them. The rest of the cards look like they're just 1-lane PCI-E cards, so it will not matter at all where the rest are plugged in. Slots 3 an 4 are only 4x slots, so you would otherwise only want to use a 4x or less card in those slots.

You can also configure and check the PCI-E settings.

In the MP3,1 the PCIe Expansion Slot Utility doesn't apply! You have 2 x16 ver. 2.0 (slots 1 and 2), and 2 x4 ver. 1.0 (slots 3 and 4).

Some people (like myself) have reported issues with having the graphics card (GTX680) in slot 1, and have moved it to slot 2, keeping slot 1 open for Raid, Accelsior, or like-wise cards that require PCIe x16 and/or ver. 2.0.

When I put the graphics card in slot 1, it simply does not work. That could be because of the GTX680 in slot 1, or because of my Accelsior card in slot 2, but it doesn't work, and when I switch them, it works just fine.

The OP has a GTX570. As I reported earlier I have a GTX570 in Slot 1 with no problems. I would guess that the problem is with your GTX680 maybe a power issue. I have a Velocity X2 in slot 2.

I specifically got he eVGA GTX680 SC card because it only uses 2x6-pin power, and should use less than 225W.

Γιώργο,

Η σειρά που είπες είναι σωστή.
