just curious to see where iOS 9 lags, I've seen Several say it's fine and others say it's not, on my 5s I get lag when swiping down on spotlight, when activating Siri, when opening an app that isn't already in the background, when opening a folder, when using Touch ID to unlock, and in the app switcher.

It stutters randomly. It can stutter while opening app, or unlocking phone or at rare instances bringing down notification center. Next moment it will be smooth at those same places.

Totally unpredictable.

Random for me too. It's almost as if the GPU goes to sleep if you're not using it for a while, but then when you start using it again, it has to come out of hibernation so it's slow for a second, but then when it's warmed up, it's fine.

It honestly reminds me of memory leaks. There's times there is no lag at all and out of no where it happens, probably has something to do with it needing more memory, as iOS 9 was made for iPhone 6s models even if they don't admit it

I'm seeing lag, opening apps, the app switcher, and spotlight.

The app switcher/multitasking and pulling down search/spotlight, which I find very ironic given how they found a way to adress it in iOS 8. All those years spotlight suffered from lag in previous iOS versions, now it's back where it once was.

Quick replying to a message by pulling down the banner is horrendous. But everything else is fine for me

Safari scrolling, scrolling in settings, app switcher, even when I send a text the animation for the bubble lags

For me, spotlight lags every time I swipe down to access it (swiping left works fine), but yeah, it's otherwise random.
I know it sucks but disabling Siri spotlight suggestions will get rid of this also helps some what with the app switcher lag, not really a good fix but for now it's works, and for me Siri suggestions aren't even working just shows my last 4 used apps=pointless

pressing the home button to wake the phone - sometimes takes several seconds for the iphone 5 to wake up.
activating the camera from the lock screen - also takes several seconds

I never use the camera button on the lock screen just tried this and also lagged bad on 5s, also can't use my Touch ID because it lags badly, sad hope for a fix

scrolling through the spotlight search options where you can untick apps, the scrolling speed is not as smooth. usually scrolling through the settings is glass on butter smooth.

Main places: Every aspect of the app switcher, opening apps, opening folders, control center, closing apps (especially with multitasking gesture on iPad) Sliding down quickly for spotlight has a pause in the middle of the animation.

There's TONS more if I mention way slop has been there since iOS 7 on my iPad mini 2. Some of it has carried over to my iPhone 6.

Are you saying you are holding down the home button while you are talking to Siri?

This is an interesting thought and I am not knowledgable enough on the SoC that is used on the iPhone to know, but since iOS 9 now uses Metal for most of the UI, I wonder if this is a proper explanation?

Control Center.

And it's so annoying. Nothing infuriates me more on iOS 9 than the stuttering with Control Center.

Everything is just slightly slower, I can tell since my rhythm is thrown off and my thumb will move faster then actions are happening.

Also there is random stutter and jitteriness from animation. There is little pattern to that but usually when I do something I haven't done in a while. For example the app switcher may stutter but if I open it again immediately it's fine.
