Hello,

I have an inactive MobileMe account, which is also my current AppleID.

If I log in to me.com, I of course get the "This MobileMe subscription has ended and cannot be renewed" notice, which is fine. My question is once iCloud is launched, will I be able to use my AppleID (and lapsed me.com) account as my iCloud email? Or since MobileMe will run until 2012, will that account still be reserved and flagged as non-renewable.

Granted, no one may know. I am just wondering if any registered Devs have a similar situation and may know an answer. It's not the end of the world, but as I was lucky enough to have the same account for MobileMe and my AppleID, I would like to continue.

(Kicking myself for letting it lapse due to the "Don't renew, it will be free soon" threads - and then it was too late as of WWDC)

I called AppleCare about this last week. They said that existing accounts that are suspended will be eligible to be re-activated by the original owner. iCloud is about to be opened up to regular users soon. For all I know, it may already be. I'm sure someone will come along to add to this.

Thank you for the reply. It doesn't seem to be available yet, but I'm patient. I just hope I don't have to use 2 separate emails for iCloud and AppleID. But what you learned is good news! :apple:

i reactivated my MobileMe one when setting up a new iCloud account, so it does work. I hadn't used it since free trial expired in 2008

I think the expired mobile me accounts not tied to appleid can be reactivated but not the ones tied to appleid.

my wife mobileme id which was not tied to appleid has been successfully reactivated

my id which is tied to appleid configured on ios 5 for cloud only syncs up with find my iphone & contacts but not email, it gives error username/password incorrect.

hope they reactivate my email id..
may be before public launch or should i wait dont know..

Does email work for the reactivated account? I keep getting wrong username/password error.

Mine wasn't tied to any appleid. Everything except mail works for me. Getting same user/pass incorrect error.
