I purchased Inception on Blu-Ray and last night redeemed my Digital Download on iTunes. I left iTunes on to download it while I watched the DVD, and when the movie was over (2.5 hours later), it had downloaded only 20 MBs!

When the movie downloads, it never gives an estimated time to completion, it just downloads, one-tenth of a MB at a time.

I have tried downloading other TV shows, and they work fine; I get an estimated time remaining after a few seconds, as usual, and they download normally.

I don't think it's my internet, like I said other iTunes downloads work just fine.

Is anyone having similar problems? What should I do? At this rate, the download will take weeks (it's a 2 GB file).

Thanks.

I have seen many times when downloading from iTunes it will start out really fast then slow down to almost nothing. One thing I have done, with downloading apps and songs but never movies, is let it start then pause when it gets slow and then start it again. It will go much faster because it always starts way fast and then slows down a couple seconds after.

I don't know if you can pause and quit iTunes then restart it when doing a digital download but you can do it on anything purchased from the iTunes Store.

I can pause/restart the download as I would any download from the iTunes Store, since it's just the same copy as someone who buys it directly from the store would get.

I've tried the pause/restart and quit, and it doesn't help.

It's never given me any sort of indication of how much time is left, it's just slowly downloading.

For example, normally under a download it will say 40 MB of 650 MB - 47 minutes remaining. For Inception, all it's saying is 28.3 MB of 2.05 GB. It's almost like it hasn't downloaded enough, or fast enough, to determine an accurate estimate.

Pretty frustrating, since I can't just delete the download and start again since I can only use the download code once.

Update: I deleted the temporary file from my computer, and restarted the download from scratch, hoping that would change things. It's still just as slow, it's like I have a corrupted file, because all other downloads work just fine. I'm out of answers.

contact apple!

I really hope this doesn't happen to me. I'm getting my combo pack for christmas and I'm putting it on itunes also.

I'm fairly certain that the digital copy is not downloading from itunes rather it is transferring from the dvd. You authorize the copy via your itunes account but the actual file comes from the disc. I bet you have either a defective disc or perhaps your dvd rom drive is not working properly. Here is apple support page discussing the transfer:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1539?viewlocale=en_US

In either case I would try the disc on another computer or return/swap the bluray set and/or contact apple.

I have tried to download the movie INCEPTION to my ITUNES site and the internet site www.wbdigitalcopy.com/inception is only down loading 1/10 at a time. The site says it will take 8 hours.I thought it was an error. But no it is taking that long.It is not only tying up the internet but itunes will not let me down load anything else till the movie is done down loading. That is a bunch of crap.the normal down load from a digital copy disk only takes about 4 mins.not 8 hours. What a blunder Warner Bros or who ever has made.I hope someone can fix this problem soon.( note: all steps were done right on my end it is just the web site.I understand I am not the only one to complain about this problem )

I redeemed a digital copy of "Inception" today on my MBP, and the sound is very distorted. Anyone else have a similar problem. I contacted apple, I see what they say and post their response.

Inception and Red Digital Copy Download Issues

This isn't just a slow download for me. This is taking thousands of hours...and I'm not exaggerating. I've tried removing, re-downloading... everything! I've tried the DNS wipe, I've tried removing the files someone else mentioned in the MacHD-Library...etc etc.... absolutely nothing is working. The movies "try" to download... but I'm currently sitting at 23490 HOURS!! No joke! And then it will stop and restart all over again without actually downloading any further. Stupid stupid stupid..and annoying. I can't get the downloads to go away, they are slowing down the rest of my internet downloads and wireless around the house. Everything else I've downloaded is just fine. If I pause or delete them, everything runs just fine. But nothing I do will permanently delete the files so they won't come back every time I open iTunes. Is there ANYTHING I can do?
