Inconsistent m.2 write speed

have you tried enabling or disabling trim to see what that does?

I'm sure you've checked this, but is TRIM turned on? An apple update turned off TRIM for me, and I was getting that.

As long as he can get 1500MB/s read speed, slot or firmware version cannot be the root cause of slow write issue.
