Good afternoon all

I really hope someone can help me.

At work, I call numerous customers throughout the day from a landline. When I call these customers, the iOS customers see my landline number calling, and underneath the number, it shows the area but this area is incorrect. For example, the area should show as 'Sydney' but it shows as 'Melbourne'.

Now I've spoken to my landline provider and they are saying it's an issue with Apple and Apple are saying it's an issue with my landline provider.

Has anyone experienced this issue before?

The iPhone is not by itself going to make some kind of determination regarding the callers phone number or anything else associated with it, such as location. The iPhone is simply receiving what the carriers network is providing to it, and displaying it.

This is certainly an issue with the landline provider, but it may not be an issue at all. In the U.S., phone numbers are portable, and you can have a phone number that you obtain when you are living in one location, and then when you relocate you can take that number with you. The 'location' associated with the number will remain what it was at the time it was first established. Until we evolve to a more sophisticated system, or go to universal phone numbers that are not so much associated with a physical location, there are always going to be these inconsistencies.
