On my desktop every day I make a new folder into which I place any items on which I have been working on that day such as PDFs contracts, invoices etc. This allows me to go back and track anything I created on a specific day. However if I later wish to perhaps attach one of these documents to an email in Apple Mail, the folder will appear at the very bottom of the list through which I have to scroll – and it is a considerably long list as my desktop is packed! – under the heading of 'Earlier'. To clarify, I would've expected it to appear at the very top of the finder window as it had just been created that day. What I can gather these folders are not being correctly labelled by the finder with the correct creation date. This is getting very tedious and I really don't know what's going on or how to fix it. Can anyone help? Thank you

Assuming you are in "List View" (In the Finder menus: View > as List), your problem is that you are viewing by group and may have sorting wrong way round. This can all be controlled from Finder's View menu. But perhaps easier to always have "View Options" visible as a small window. You can get this from Finder > View > Show View Option (or just type Command-J).

Try different things, but you most likely want 'Group by' None and 'Sort by' Date Created.

You may also want to add additional columns (like Date Created). When column has an up or down symbol at the top you can reverse sort order by clicking on it.
