Hopefully someone can help, Today I decided to prepare my 2012 Mac Pro for sale. I simply removed the SSD containing open core which is a PCIe SSD, my Vega VII, and all my other drives. I Installed my efi flashed 280x and did a few NVRAM resets.

I threw in a small Apple Blade in an Apple PCIe adapter and installed Mojave via USB.

Once done, I ran updates then proceeded to take some screen shots and I noticed now my ram is no longer showing 1333 but now showing 1066Mhz I decided to blast away a few more NVRAM resets and reboot, but then it lost the disk showing a question mark folder and wouldn't boot. So I fired up my usb installer and used the select startup disk from there and was able to get it booted back up. but ram still showing 1066Mhz

Is it possibly a corrupt Bootrom is causing this? If was showing up fine as 1333 until this morning when I did this.

after searching a while I found out how to dump the rom with RomTool (the password wasn't listed often) and here is the result of the free space section this is after 4 NVRAM resets

If anyone else has anything else they want me to check please let me know, I just want to make sure this machine is functioning well before I sell it.

As you have a backup you can diagnose it by flashing the empty mp51.fd of the 10.14.6 full install.

keep your backup rom very securely stored. You will need it again.

empty firmware means no serial and all other identities are missing.

Well I needed to step back on this so I took a break a while. I powered the unit off and cleaned everything, remembered I had another 32GB 4x4 kit of ecc lying around and it works at 1333, I know the other ram was showing 1333 for like a year and I have a screenshot of it somewhere but have to find it.

okay, never mind! clearing the NVRAM likely fixed some stuck values. Upon closer inspection the ram is 4Rx4 and that I believe is incorrect for the Mac Pro. It should be 2Rx4 if I remember correctly I guess the person I bought it from sent the wrong spec but that was like 1.5 years ago. surprising it even ran right with that in it. I'll just sell this kit separately and add a couple 8GB sticks to get it in triple channel. Was a good ride! looking back owning 7 different cMP's over the years was such an amazing experience! hoping to scoop up a 2019 soonish and cant wait! keeping the vega vii, sonnet allegro pro 3.1 gen 2 card and my pcie nvme stuff for it.
