Increasingly Disappointed

OK so I just need to vent my frustrations which after getting a new iPhone 8+ and IOS 11.1.1 have just about hit the top level of my patience.

Here is my list of all the problems

1 - new phone took 3 days to activate - turns out somewhere in the chain of command was an old billing zip code - Verizon points to apple - apple had no idea - trial and error resolved it

2 - wifi just doesnt work reliably anymore

• Leave house and return - doesnt always connect
• using airplay barely ever works anymore usually need to turn off wifi, turn on, pick airport express, still doesnt work, rinse and repeat then finally will work
• Phone call comes in while using airplay, answer call, hang up call and 50% of the time music will continue, when it doesnt go back to disabling dance to get it back
• Pause music - play music again and doesnt work, do the dance again
• This is mostly using pandora, works fine on ipads, see above for phone headaches
• Using the music player widget often just crashes phone, selecting various airports rarely works, do the dance to get it back
• I can't express how frustrating it is

3 - iMessage is often wonky, touch the corner to go back to message list and the edit screen pops up instead

• Touch camera to add a photo to a text and then after you cant get the keyboard back to add a message
• Touch a message to start a new response and zooms to top of hundred messages, need to scroll back down

4 - Airpod connection has become unreliable, put them in ears and sometimes only one side plays, sometimes they just dont connect

5 - Siri - Hey siri rarely works - on my wifes iPhone 8 asking hey siri to read an iMessage and she says youll need to unlock your iphone first! - All settings are identical to my 8+ and siri does not tell me to unlock phone - this is a mystery even the best geniuses have not been able to resolve

6 - Apple watch - many things also no longer work.

• streaming music on phone, look at watch and see swirly music interface waiting for something?
• stock chart complication on watch face usually shows no results, need to open chart then go back for results to refresh
• Same as above for weather complication usually shows ---, maybe related to overall phone wifi issues???

I'm sure I am forgetting a bunch of little issues, but I am just so frustrated. I have invested thousands over the years in the Apple eco system because it all used to "Just Work". But now it seems like it all "Used to Just Work" because more and more no longer works.

I know I am not alone. I keep investing in apple because like many others I truly love the products and the company, but come on. What ever happened to testing? The biggest company in the world should have the best QC department in the world. These bugs are not obscure and hard to find either.

Only two things that I can offer as I do not do a bunch of your scenarios:

There are currently issues related to Pandora. I am active on a Honda Accord forum and multiple members are having issues that are not necessarily related to any particular build of iOS. It seems like Pandora devs need to be addressing some of this stuff (some members have reached out to Pandora support).

Now - about Siri and messages: I do not use Hey Siri but I too had a problem that Siri would tell me that I needed to unlock my phone when I'd invoke it over Bluetooth. Turns out that what I did not have is message previews on the lock screen; this was not enabled. Once I enabled that, everything started working just fine. I think it was under Notifications > Messages > flip the message previews to Always.

I'll chime in on the Pandora thing as well. I miss the days when I could get into my car and start driving and have the music pick up where I had last listened. Now it just sits there and says it's playing but there's no progression on the time bar. Hitting play/pause does nothing. I have to go into Pandora, switch to a new station then back to what I want to listen to.

Supremely irritating, to say the least. But I agree that this is a Pandora issue rather than an iOS issue.

I'd just go ahead and restore it, set it up as new and see if you have the same issues.

I'm really sorry about how bad your bugs are... I think people here have suggested a fresh restore.. so not much to add here... if Apple hasn't stopped the clearing of ram from the iPhone, I suggest you do that by pressing the power button till slide to power off comes, leave the power button, and then hold the home button(don't know if it's the same on iPhone 8, it's on iPhones with actual home buttons and not virtual ones)

I your problems and frustration. About quality control: Suppose Apple (or any phone maker) sells 2 million phones...then picture just 1% of that and you have quite a few phones. I have not updated to IOS 11 nor High Sierra. There are serious changes to both IOS and OSx in handling apps. Don't get me started on that. There are a number of thread on this already.
