Chase sent me an updated debit card with "chip and pin" built into it. The card number is completely different and the accompanying paperwork said my old debit card would stop working once I activated the new card. Apple Pay is so tightly integrated into the banks that when I activated my new card, I went to go add it in the Wallet app... The new card was automatically there and replaced the old card. Pretty cool.

It is because there is NO credit card info on your iPhone to update. The bank just updates it's info for the new CC to work with the 'token' number already on your iPhone.
