My wife downloaded this "Plants, Cats & Dogs Scanner" yesterday that promises to identify the species of whatever plant, cat, or dog you take a picture of with your phone. It's a subscription app what offers a 3 day free trial. She tried to take a picture of our dog and cat and the app reported results that were completely wrong. It looks like it suggests random breeds to make it appear that it's just inaccurate. Some users even report that their pet was reported as a plant.
I'm thinking: "What a great scam. Promise the impossible to entice people in, hoping that they forget to cancel the free trial in time to get slurped an $80 subscription fee". Could you image the technology needed to be able to identify most species of plants AND cats AND dogs just by a picture from your phone? If it's too good to be true, it often is. I'm sure they hope that people won't read the reviews (as many of them are negative), and I suspect that the positive reviews have been spoofed by fake users. Their website is fairly simple which could have been thrown together quickly.
What do you guys think? Is there a way to report them to Apple?
