If I am an ATT customer and will not need to unlock the phone should I activate first then go through the independence steps to jailbreak the phone? Or no?

What do you want to do? If you want 3rd party apps then independence is for you.

it doesn't "unlock" your iphone, only enables read/write (so you can add apps).

Joshy this is EXACTLY what I want to do...have you done this? Perhaps you can walk me through the process in a private message? I looked through independence today but am confused as to if i should activate first then do the jailbreak or what?

Again all I want to be able to do is run 3rd party apps and summerboard
