I'm making an online training for our moodle system and I originally had some simple gifs on some of the slides but quickly found that they don't work when exported to swf.

I remade them in Flash as simple SWFs but for some reason they aren't playing properly after exported. I want them to play on page load and have that option selected by they won't play unless clicked and when they do play they're on hyperspeed (when not exported from inDesign the swfs run at the desired speed.)

Anybody run into this problem before?

I am confused by your question. You mentioned having a problem with InDesign CS5 export to SWF, but then you mentioned creating a SWF inside Flash. Which one did you use?

If you were using InDesign CS5 to create the animation and exported them as a SWF, they should work just fine. Did you do anything else to that SWF (like embed it inside another SWF in Flash Pro) before uploading it to moodle?

I originally had animated gifs but they don't work when exported from inDesign into a swf file. So I recreated the gifs in flash then placed that swf inside the inDesign presentation and when I export the inDesign presentation to upload it to moodle the swf inside the exported presentation won't play on page load.

Hope that was more clear. I guess it's kind of confusing trying to explain it haha.

Well, I am still confused.

First off, you can't animate gifs from InDesign. If you want to create an animated GIF you should use Photoshop or Fireworks.

Secondly, if you were creating an animation inside Flash and exported a SWF, why not just use that SWF.

I think your problem has to do with the frame rate of your SWF files. If you created a SWF if Flash with a different frame rate than the SWF you exported from InDesign, that would probably cause one of your animations to run too quickly.

The simplest solution to this problem would be to just create your animation with 1 program only.

Problem Solved?

Hi did you ever figure out the answer to your problem because I'm having the same problem except I created my swf file (it is a scroll panel) in Flash Catalyst and then imported it into indesign.

Unfortunately, you can't import a SWF file from Flash Catalyst into InDesign CS5 since Flash Catalyst SWF's are not compatible with InDesign.

The file works when I preview it - and it has worked when it is exported. The problem comes when we move the file off the computer and try and email or put it on a disk - then it stop working
