Indexing SMB Drives

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to index my network SMB drives using the following commands

mdutil /Volumes/Share -i on

however it doesn't seem to work and only returns me the following :

Code:

/Volumes/Share:
    Indexing disabled.

Anyone running into a similar issue? I was able to do this on 10.11

Pretty sure drives have to be in HFS+ format and have full system rights enabled for Spotlight to work.

I finally resolved this.

Turns out you need to create this folder as root

Code:

sudo mkdir -p /private/var/db/Spotlight-V100/Volumes/

and now simply issue the indexing command again

Code:

sudo mdutil -i on /Volumes/name_of_your_volume
