Phones India's $4 Android smartphone looks exactly like iPhone

The smartphone has a 4-inch display with 480×800 WVGA resolution. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 8GB of internal storage, and supports expandable storage up to 32GB via microSD card.

The Freedom 251 sports a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera at the back and VGA selfie camera. Connectivity options include 3G and dual-SIM.

Not only did they completely rip off the entire design they even copied the icons lol

Still amazing they managed to build a phone running Android 5.1 costing in single digit!

I read about this on Reddit and I saw a lot of posts saying this was more likely to be a "scam" of some sort or a publicity stunt.
Copied design or not, I don't think any company could manufacture phones for $4

Anyway this phone will be selling in India, the vast majority of Indian villagers can use it for voice talk, that is enough and the company has data service plan too. The specification of the phone is comparable with IP4S, yet it has dual sim. When the phone is cheaper than McD big mac meal, who would not go for it ?

Right, but people know the difference. The world is getting smaller every day. Most people in the smartphone market know the difference between an iPhone and the imitation.

Depends on whether or not you can trademark icons in India.

I looked at their government IP sites (horrible web coding) and can't find an answer yet. Anyone know?

Edit: Here's the official list of trademarkable items in India. Although some come close, I don't see computer icons mentioned explicitly.

- Letters or numerals or any combination thereof.
