I'm pretty new on this forum, not mothertongue and surely not so expert... a perfect noob! So please forgive my poor english and my mistakes...
I'm a 2D/3D graphic, my last mac was a Titanium notebook (looong time ago) and since I have concrete necessity I'm forced to use desktop replacements. My actual pc is an HP laptop:
HP pavillion dv9500
Intel Core2 Duo T7700 @2.40 GHz
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium - SP 1 - 32bit
4 Gb Ram
GeForce 8600M GS
ForceWare version: 167.43
dedicated video memory: 256 MB
OS: windows Vista
and it is a TRAGEDY! I found Vista an horrible OS, and since I have an 32bit version is even worste. So my old passion for Mac is burning again since I'm looking for a STABLE machine who can work till the first moment I'll use it till the day I'll decide to change it.
My possible choice is the new Alu iMac 24'' @ 3.06 GHZ with the 8800 GS 512 with 4Gb ram but I'd like to be sure that it will fit my needs:
- Anyone of you use this version of video card with Maya for heavy scene dressing/illuminating/animating?
- Anyone has done the same of above using XSI bootcamped? Does it works properly? Is more usable mounting Linux on a partition and using the native XSI linux version? Is it difficult to do?
- What about gaming with this 8800GS? Anyone has tested AoC?
