Hi, ok, some iMacs come with an IR port (not for data transfer) it works with the respective IR remote control so you can use your iMac as an entertainment center for music and video.

Have you ever used it under Windows or Linux? I don't see any IR port being listed or detected. I've had computers with IR ports both for data transfer and multimedia IR remote controls, these can be a nice thing to have and the IR port is detected and appears as such on the device manager, but I don't see this is the case for the iMac under BootCamp or any manual installation of Windows.

I know Bootcamp drivers not only includes specific ones for hardware, but also sort of "empty" drivers to tell the OS (Windows) "nothing to see here", but I already tried with Bootcamp drivers, WITHOUT Bootcamp drivers, and also just the basics from Bootcamp, no results so far.

It's clear to me many users in this forum aim to stay using MacOSX questions and most are unfamiliar with Windows, but I have no idea where to put this question. Tried searching the web several times, several days, but the terms "remote control" even when used along IR, infrared port, etc., keep bringing results about "remote desktop" software, and that's not what I want.

Any experiences to share?
