I'm not expecting my wired, refurbished keyboard until next week. All else should be here by Saturday. I ordered a dongle wireless and am wondering, due to total unfamiliarity with "dongles", if this is what I need to power my existing magic keyboard which came with my iMac. Sorry to ask all these questions but I want to get a step ahead so that I can partially remember what the heck I need to be aware of. I think I will clean the HDD if possible but want to keep Snow Leopard until I get used to the Mac Pro again. One of the reasons I decided to do this is going to sound silly but I love the Myst games. Catalina won't play them, my Windows laptop is a pain to use for the horrible screen it has and Snow Leopard was what I had when I originally purchased all the Myst games for PC/Mac. Not sure if Lion will also run them? I am also doing a lot of writing now and am wondering if word processing software for that old a Mac is available. Hey, it's just a lot of fun for me and I'm getting old!

Your post is lacking important detail about what you are using.

Assuming your Mac Pro is 2008 or later, just plug the keyboard into the Mac Pro with a Lightning cable and it will pair to the built-in Bluetooth. No dongle.

I don't know about earlier Mac Pros and third party wireless dongles.

I apologize for the lack of detail. It is a 2006 1,1 Mac Pro. Thanks for taking the time to try to help.
As an old Navy guy, love the three master of your avatar.

Not sure about older Mac Pros. I think you bought the optional Apple bluetooth you'll be okay, just plug keyboard into computer with lightning cable to pair it.

If you didn't get the optional bluetooth, you'll have to use the third party dongle. But lots of questions about that. Is is supported with MacOS drivers? Will the automatic pairing work with a third party dongle? Don't know. You'll just have to try and see.

I researched this, for what it is worth, and one of the highlights people were talking about is that they didn't have to download drivers to get it to work. It just seems to work. I am so used to my iMac that all the old OS such as Snow Leopard I've forgotten. I will keep all informed as this stuff will get to me piecemeal because I couldn't order it all at once.
