Does anyone know how to initiate a Wi-Fi Sync without connecting your iPhone to iTunes?

I like WiFi sync, works well. I have been able to sync without being plugged in which is nice, but I can see why they want you plunged in; so you don't run out of power during a sync which could be devistating.

I think two things... it does it only when the screen is locked, and it's not instant, it probably waits a while on a schedule, i.e. like every hour it checks... it probably also won't do it if you synced recently... it shows last sync, so probably won't do 15 times a day.

I'm still trying to figure this out. Any firm information on this? I've been running the GM iOS 5 for several days and have yet to see evidence of of an automatic sync, even when plugged in and locked overnight.

you can't run out of power when syncing, once you get to 20% battery it stops and says must charge

I found the button in settings, but my iPhone says the sync will resume when it finds my computer.

They're both on the school network, but my understanding is that connections between devices isn't allowed on the school network.

The weird part is, even if I have my computer set up an ad-hoc network and have my iPhone join it, they still don't see each other. Normally using ad-hoc works around these kinds of issues... I've managed to get my wireless printer and my laptop to connect to my iMac by doing it.

So maybe it's not the network that's causing the issue?
