Hi MR Community,

I was doing some work for a customer, including installing Windows XP on their brand new 20" Aluminum iMac. Everything went fine up to the point where you install the Boot Camp drivers in Windows from the startup CD included with the iMac.

After installing the drivers, I was not able to control the mouse and keyboard anymore. Neither the included bluetooth or wired mouse they had laying around worked.

What was even weirder is that when I restarted the iMac after installing the Boot Camp drivers, I was presented with a white screen that beeped twice repeatedly. This happened after every attempt to install windows and the boot camp drivers. After it happened though, I was able to reboot into Mac OS X or Windows. I still have no control over Windows, though.

The mouse and keyboard DID work up until I installed the drivers included, but the hardware error messages really baffles me. Does anyone have any insight or experiences with this?

I think you're having an error :p. Boot camp works fine for me, and I haven't heard of this problem before. You should take it to an Apple Store to get checked out, or at the least call. Taking it in is best, 'cause if it really doesn't work they'll swap it out for an even newer one (if they're nice).

Well it is the newest one. Unfortunately the closes Apple Store is over an hour away. I'll just have to see if any of the possible solutions I have found work, and if not I'll just tell them they need to call Apple and have them exchange it.

Mine too - fixed now

Hi - n00b to these forms although been reading them keenly for a while.

I had the same problem. It seemed to fix itself - what I did was reboot a couple of times, and plug in another USB mouse in parallel to the might mouse. The keyboard and mouse then started working and are now 100% fine.

Weird but it worked for me.

Welcome to the forums.

Thanks for the response, I'm hearing it's a fairly common problem. I am suspect that the USB mouse I was trying to use was simply not functional. I'm going to take my known working keyboard and mouse over next time and see if I can get everything working.
