Hey guys,
So after a few weeks with the new iPad Pro 11” and three bigger journeys I have to say, I’m frustrated with the current USB C cable situation!
I’m traveling with an iPhone X, iPad Pro 11”, Apple Watch, Sony 1000XM3 headphones and a Sony RX1 digital camera.
Until now it was fine to bring a USB A to lightning cable in the hand luggage and maybe a micro USB cable for my old Bose QC35 headphones, to be able to charge either from a wall plug or a USB A port as found in most planes now.
In the bigger suitcase I bring along a one wall outlet to five USB A port adapter, which used to be a perfect solution.
But NOW I have to bring a USB A to lightning cable for the phone for usb outlets, a USB A to USB C cable for the same outlets, and a USB C to lightning cable to be able to charge the iPhone from the iPad if I want. If I also want to be able to fast charge the iPad or maybe charge the new headphones from the iPad I also need a USBC to USBC cable. That would be four cables, plus a wall plug to USB a, and wall plug to USB C adapter. PLUS the multi cable solution in my main luggage for the Apple Watch and micro USB to USB A cable for the Sony camera.
This is a nightmare
If only the iPhone had USB C, i would be fine just to bring two cables in the hand luggage , USB A to USB C and USB C to USBC.
Do you guys think Apple is gonna take that leap next year? This current situation is such a mess! I only realized how bad it is since these journeys. At home I don’t really bother too much...
Maybe I’m doing something wrong- how do folks with a similar setup organize everything?
I realize I could just bring a USB a to lightning and a USB A to USB C cable, but then you run into situation where it would be really sweet to be able to charge the phone from the iPad or the headphones from the iPad, which just happened when I started writing this text on an island in Thailand.. and that automatically makes four required cables which seems insane!
