I just turned on my iMac, to see what appeared to be a small insect crawling on the screen. I attempted to wipe it off, only to find it is behind the screen itself, and I was seeing its shadow. Iv tried several things to kill it, but it just keeps crawling around. Every now and then, it will go "off the screen", only to return some minutes later. I presume it will eventually die, but i want to know what the solution is if i have the problem of a dead insect stuck behind me screen

Time to disect your iMac!
Take the back off and blow it out. Seems like the only logical solution.:D

Seems a little drastic. I really dont want to take the back off my baby, knowing me ill break it

Try and see if taking a computer vacuum to the fans would draw it out, though I don't see how that would work, but I don't know how the iMac is built so....

Wow, that's wierd. The backlight should fry it.

Ah hahahaha I can't stop laughing... I can just picture sitting at the screen watching a little bug moving around... oh man... Its like that commercial where the cock roach starts crawling on your screen and it looks so real; though it is real in this case.

What happens if it dies and im left with the corpse on my screen?

Actually, no it would just fall down off the screen (hopefully). If not, then it will be the first bug iv experienced with OSX :D

Usually its windows that gets all the bugs

Ok enough bug jokes

Yeah, I've heard people complaining before that they have what appears to be a dead fly on their iMac screen. This is usually 6 months or more after purchase.

Did he die while he was visible on the screen? Can you see him still?

Someone i spoke to on Hexus.net forum decided to do the following....

Switched his screen off, put a desk lamp above the tft and then the buggers flew out and started hanging around the lamp!

Seriously try it, it will probably work.
