Inserting emojis often doesn't work till third time?

Anyone else having this issue? I have it on both my laptop and desktop running latest software. If trying to insert an emoji I will open the interface. Click the emoji I want and "poof" nothing. If I do it a number times it will eventually insert into my text. Sometimes will take three times. Sometimes does work the first etc.

Any ideas?

Some 絵文字 have "ethnic" variants, and you would have to choose a desired skin tone to insert into a document.

That would probably be Instagram. Emoji requires utf8mb4 encoding for DB storage, that is 4 bytes rather than three, and perhaps Instagram just uses regular utf8. Not that I use asocial media, but I believe they have their own emoji, which are then encoded using a proprietary method.

Not consistent, but yes, can have the same issue here. Email, or anything really. Seemingly whims of the OS.
