I'm looking to purchasing this TV for my Mac Mini. The reviews are almost all 5 stars and the buyers are pretty happy with it. I'm wondering if anyone here has an Insignia HDTV? Does it work well with your Mac Mini? How does Insignia compare to other brands like Sony or Toshiba.

Insignia = Bad.

Do not buy Insignia TV's. They are low quality, made of cheap materials, have horrible menus. Oh yeah, they are also slow turning onand flipping channels. If you compare it to a Sony it's like a iBook(insignia tv) compared to a unibody mbp(sony).

Insignia is Best Buy's store brand of TV's.

Think of them as the Sam's Cola of TV's...

Try here. I've got the 226T. It looks just as good as any comparable Sony and costs a fraction of the Sony's price. FYI, they use the same panels as LG and Samsung.

I have an Insignia. Yes it is a lower quality HDTV, but thats why it is priced the way it is.

I have had mine for about a year and a half and have never had a problem. The HD (720p) is great for Xbox 360, or watching sports.

Overall, I am very happy with this TV. It also works well with my macbook pro

How big is it? Anything larger than 32'' that is 720p looks terrible, IMO.

I have the 32". You have to remember that 720p is not a very high quality HD. It gets the job done, and doesn't look too bad. If you got anything larger than a 32", I agree you should look into 1080i/p

I've had an Insignia 32" since 2006... I'm quite happy with it, particularly given the price (also in 2006 there were few 1080p 32" TVs anyway).

I've used mine via VGA on my iMac and EeeBox and via HDMI on my EeeBox (what I'm doing now). This one did require customizing a profile to get native display (I think I used SwitchResX on the Mac side and used DTD Converter to modify the registry entries for the GMA950 driver in Windows.

If you're going for 1080 anything, it's worth the extra money to get 1080p. And I think most 1080i TVs are actually 1366x768, so it is downsized to fit that res.

As some have stated the brand has been decent. Honestly, I'd even get a Vizio over the Insignia, but my nephew has a 37" and plays WOW (via PC ) and XBox on it nearly 7 days a week without issue. He has only had it about 17 months though. Having had a Sceptre, I will say that no matter what in the LCD HDTV world you get what you pay for. My Sceptre and Philips are night and day. I bought a 47" Philips for $1k at Target in January of this year. The same TV is about $150 less now.

Anyways, I think if you want to go less expensive, Olivia (by Syntax-Brillian) or Vizio are the way to go.

Yeah, that is a pretty good deal. I paid $637 including taxes for my 720p three years ago, though, and that was a very nice deal also.

I know! It was one of their Cyber Monday Thanksgiving deals. I really am not a fan of Best Buy but I couldn't pass it up. It may well be the most recent thing I've bought from them!

OTOH 22" 1080P sounds more like a computer display than a TV. I would have a slight reservation with that that, unless it's going in a bedroom (tsk, which is bad for sleep hygiene), it'll seem awfully small after a while. Now that the bezels have gotten quite a bit smaller I probably would've gone for a 36-37" instead of a 32".

I have a 42" 1080P sharp set i got for 800 including tax and shipping from Dell.com. I love it, it's a great TV

I also have the 42" 1080p which I hung in my bedroom, and it looks great. I've had it since last Christmas and run it daily and have never had a problem.
