Hi thought you guys would like to know this:

Finally after the long wait, i decided to cobble all the work arounds and code and produce a viable InsomniaX for Intel users.

This was only made possible by the support of many of my users, as well as the very kind developer Alexey who also develops Sleepless, considering we are both in some way in a competition i think he deserves a big thanks.

The final piece of the puzzle for the most effective work around so far came as a result of Mark, who discovered that by manipulating pmset you could reactivate the display, from here i simply took the code from Sleep Display to sleep the screen properly.

Of course there was more to it, but this was more of a thank you to everyone that has helped in making this beta possible, so be sure to check their sites out and consider even donating to them for their work.

The download links should be operational soon, be sure to check the InsomniaX project page for more details.

Nice work! :)

I read that on the older version, it would mess up the apple on the back of the screen, making it not light up or something...

I thought the Apple on the back of the screen lit up because it was a transparent section and you saw the (same) backlight that lights the screen. Is that even possible, or was it just a weird rumor?

This release was aimed at fixing that screen bug, it still somewhat exists but only exists for 2 seconds and you no longer need to sleep the machine to recover the screen.

Unfortunately no the Apple logo doesn't start lit up ;)

Its true; try reducing and increasing your backlight in the dark :)

When you install InsomniaX, you load Insomnia, this stops your laptop from going to sleep (unless ur battery is below critical) from here if you close the lid the light and screen go off, hence the apple logo turns off.

Once you open your screen again (Intel have to unload at this stage to recover screen) the apple logo lights up again.

Congratulations to all you Intel users, we are now testing code that is currently promising 100% completion of the bugs, as well as no more work around specific information for Intel machines.

Keep a eye out for a update soon from both InsomniaX and Sleepless, also on a side note any graphics designers willing to help create some new graphics would greatly be appreciated.

We currently need a neater more suiting icon for the menu bar, as well as maybe a more mac looking icon for the application its self.

Wait a sec...so if i use this with my macbook, I'd have to restart after reopening to get the screen back on?

EDIT: Nevermind! Figured it out!

This is good. I've been waiting for them to release this version!

Keeping the screen closed is much more convenient when i really dont need to look at it all the time. Also helps with distractions when i'm working on paper.

edit: haha they havent technically released it yet.:(

Thank you very much! Sleepless' registration pop ups were annoying me
