Is it possible to (easily) install the updated 5,1 bios from the 14.1 Mojave package with out installing Mojave? I don't have a metal capable card yet (one on order) - but I have a little spare time today.

I bought installed a NVMe before realizing you needed the updated BIOS to boot from it. ¯\_(シ)_/¯ I'll RTFM next time.

The native Apple Firmware updater won't run without Metal card.

Buy Metal card from Amazon(you have Prime, right?), do update, return card. Kind of a D move, but if you're low on cash, it's an option.

You can do the 140.0.0.0 update and quit the installer, staying in High Sierra with the new NVMe boot firmware.
