Hi I upgraded my mid 2009 MacBook to 4 gb Ram

It's running Yosemite but app launch time and stuff is slow

Do you guys think elcapitan would be better on it? Kindly assist Thanks!

It's been discussed. The biggest difference you will see is from installing an SSD. My '09 MBP runs much better on El Capitan than Yosemite - but I've got an SSD and use the discrete GPU.

Running El Cap on a Mac mini 2009 with an SSD, which is the same core hardware as the MacBook. Runs well for a 6+ year old machine.

Mavericks and Yosemite beachballed quite badly on the original mechanical hard drive, the £50 SSD upgrade was worth every penny.

Yeah, it's really the best upgrade you can make to an older machine! Not to expensive either.
