Hey guys, I bought an iMac from a guy and I wanted to do a fresh install, so i put in the DVD that came with the machine, and booted, formated and repartitioned the drive to the correct format.

Now, half way through the install process, it says "Install failed installer could not copy the nessesary support files"

I read that it may be the RAM chips, so I removed one at a time and tested, but no joy.

Just before the install process decides to fail, the disc makes a clicking noise, the disc has a few light scratches on one part, im not sure if thats why the install is failing?

There are a few months of AppleCare plan left, should I give them a ring, or is their a simple fix for this?

I was going to just buy a new copy of Mac from apple....

Anyone share their thoughts?

System:
i5 3.06GHz Intel Duo 2 Processor
4GB Ram
1TB HD
27" Display

Thanks
Adam
