2012 Mac Mini install problem. I went to install Mavericks and did the CMD+r at boot but it only gives me Mountain Lion as an option to install. So I install it, add my Apple ID, go to download Mavericks and app store shows a grayed out email and no way to change it.

Went back, erased the drive using drive utility, repeated steps again, same issue. Searched on the web and only thing I see is that most issues with that error are from pirated apps which I have absolutely ZERO.

Can I not install Mavericks with a fresh install using Recovery?

Also, how can I trash the strange email that shows up in my login? I can sign out of MAS and iTunes and login successfully with my Apple ID but only when I try to download the free upgrade to Mavericks does this unknown email show up.

Any help is appreciated.

I did a secure erase of the drive and then just went with the ML recovery install and now Mavericks upgrade is downloading fine. Long night of reinstalling all of my apps but success is just around the corner.

Thanks to all who helped.
