I'm using a MacBook4,1 early 2008 and therefore stick on 10.8. (well, i did not try updating to 10.8.1 or 10.8.2 via pacifist yet due to the risk to break my lovely mac again...).

However, in 10.8.2, Messages.app gets a huge improvement by allowing receiving messages which are send to your phone number.

Is it possible to _only_ install the new Messages.app from 10.8.2? I have already tried copying the new Messages.app from the combo update via Pacifist, but however, it always crashes when starting.

Maybe you have another hint? Thanks!

You'll need the new frameworks copied too, and maybe if you're super-lucky, it'll work. But I think it will not.

Thank you, i'll have a try. If it doesn't work, TM should be able to restore again.
