Should work fine and many people put them in one of the optical bays on these towers. You'd need an adapter to use it in a drive sled. It runs at SATA 2 speeds but would be much better than a platter drive. Go for it! Good price for a 2Tb drive. The OWC SATA 3 PCI cards for these would speed it up, but depends on the end use you need it for.

Many mentions of Max drive sizes in these towers being in the Petabyte range, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks!

I've installed a Samsung 850 Pro as a system disk for my macpro5,1 (OS X 10.11 El Capitan) with no issues, but read in the thread below that one user was having issues rebooting his Samsung 860 EVO on a macpro2,1. Wondering if this is an issue with any other users attempting a similar configuration with a macpro2,1 or macpro1,1 and a Samsung 860 EVO.

Didn't know this issue was happening, so thanks for the update. In your case this could prove problematic. I stand corrected! Hopefully someone will reply to your question on the other Post. If I hear anything about this or find info, I'll happily share it here.
