As the title states, is it possible to install Windows (8.1 or even 10) without use of an EFI graphics card & Bootcamp?

Got a GTX 980 coming tomorrow, not bothered about Boot Screens or even the Windows experiance, just want to play some games as my intentions with the card.

Is there a way around with with Virtual Machine or something else?

Would appreciate some help.

Poot,

Went to school in Grantham, pretty sure it was 1 stop away from Nottingham on train.

ANyhow, there are easy EFI cards to flash, you will need on to use 980.

I used Windows/OS X with an unflashed GTX670 with no backup card for bootscreens. It makes it a pain in the ass to do things because you turn it on and pray it's doing what it's supposed to, but it worked.

The answer is: Probably. Windows 7 will work fine, at least. I don't see why Win 8 wont. Just put in your windows install DVD, boot up holding down "C", and the rest should "just work"

it's helpful to have an OS X partition or recovery partition somewhere so you can use the "startup disk" panel to toggle between OS's that way. You need to make sure OS X has your 980 driver (Yosimite may by default (???) )

Are you not going to install OS X at all?

Thanks for all your responses, I thought I'd ask, but I knew it was a tricky situation.

@MacVideoCards
Maybe you'll be able to help me, I'll send you a message.

@Slughead
Don't worry, I'm not planning to bin OSX, unfortunately Windows is my only best option for gaming, I just wanted to make use of my existing hardware without having to buy PC motherboards and CPU etc, My Mac Pro has enough power for me and I'll never ever leave Apple's OSX.

I had alot of bad times with Windows back in the Win95 days, although I did use Vista on a temp mini PC and It wasn't as bad.

That said, I'm planning to give 8.1 a go, maybe even try out Window's 10 Beta for gaming.

My GTX980 came today, WOW what a beast of a card, I might just take it external and use an EFI card inside the Mac Pro.
