I decided I wanted to give Big Sur a try on my new 27” IMac. I start the download that’s 12.01gb and sometimes it will get right to the end and just stop. After about 5 minutes I’ll get the installation failed warning. I’ve tried multiple times and keep getting the same message. Sometimes it doesn’t even get to 6gb downloaded and pops that message. Any ideas?

The official release is probably imminent, as early as next Tuesday or perhaps just a few weeks later. Why not wait for it? As for your problem, it's probably something intermittent. Wait a day and try again.

Can you put imac close to router and use wired connection?

You do have say 30GB free space?

It’s on Ethernet and I’ve got well over 30gb of free space. I’ll wait till Apple releases it. I just have never had a problem installing a beta before.

Make sure you don’t have any AV software and use terminal command to update

Have you accepted the Beta agreement? My installation failed a couple times until I accepted the Beta agreement.

Yep, also tried the terminal method and it kept showing no updates available. It’s possible I was doing that wrong though.
